Brian Dills, school transportation technician at the Alexander Central School District, received the supreme honor of being awarded the School Bus Technician of the Year Award by the New York Association for Pupil Transportation (NYAPT) in conjunction with the Pupil Transportation Institute (PTSI) at NYAPT’s 60 th annual conference in Albany on July 15, 2018. Brian was nominated by Alexander’s Transportation Director, Shea Schreiber. A longtime veteran in transportation with the past 10 years at Alexander, Brian handles the maintenance of the district’s 19 vehicles as well as the vehicles for the Building and Grounds Department and the small vehicles for the Town of Alexander.
The School Bus Technician of the Year Award recognizes a School Bus Technician who exemplifies the characteristics of excellence and quality and whose work results in a safer school bus and school bus travel for children. Its award is determined by the NYAPT Safe Trans Committee which extensively reviews and judges all submitted applications, taking into consideration professional attitude, ability to comprehend technology, communicating with drivers, administrators and staff as well as other criteria. PTSI sponsors the award in conjunction with NYAPT.
